So, while browsing Facebook this morning I came across a post; "God doesn’t move in your life when you complain, He moves when you pray". I noticed that quite a few people "amen-ed and/or liked" this. This irritated me at best. First of all whether we complain or pray does nothing to motivate God. He moves because He wants too. We complain because we're human. We pray because we're Christians. He intervenes because He's God. I have had God come through for me when I was complaining and I have had God come through for me as an answer to prayer. I have EVEN had God come through for me when I did absolutely nothing at all. God is God. He cannot be manipulated. God even moves on behalf of the atheist who has and wants nothing to do with God. I have heard time and again how God moved in the life of someone BEFORE they were saved. We, as Christians need to get out of the thinking that we in anyway can move God. There is nothing unique or special about us. Although we are individuals and unique in our own human form all are the same to God. He deems none of us more worthy, more holy than the other. He has no favorites. There is no right or wrong way to communicate with Him. Communication with Him is key. ANY TYPE of communication is what forms our relationship with Him. Whether we complain or pray matters not to His moving. If we are praying instead of complaining to please God than great! Wonderful! But if we are praying to move God then this is not pleasing to God. He longs for us to pray to Him with our daily needs just as a loved one longs to hear our longings and needs. He moves because He is God. Whether my child complains that he is hungry or asks nicely for food I am inclined to feed him regardless. He is my child. It is my responsibility to feed him. Besides I love him and long to take care of him. The same is true for a loving and compassionate God. Let us not be as the Pharisee's and think that we have ANY hand in the outcome of Gods moving on ours or other's behalf. He moves or doesn't move because He is God. Nothing more. Nothing less.
